After Scam 1992 made Harshad Mehta a household name and Scam 2003 decoded the Telgi stamp paper fraud, India’s most gripping crime drama franchise is back — and this time, the target is none other than Subrata Roy and the colossal Sahara India empire.

What Is Scam 3 About?
Scam 3 will be based on the life and controversies surrounding the late Subrata Roy, an Indian businessman who founded Sahara India Pariwar in 1978. The series is expected to trace the meteoric rise and eventual dramatic collapse of one of India’s most powerful and controversial business conglomerates — a story that once had all of India glued to front-page headlines for years.
Sahara India Pariwar, at its peak, claimed to be India’s second-largest employer after the Indian Railways, making this one of the most epic corporate sagas ever to be adapted for screen.
Who Is Playing Subrata Roy?
Marathi and Hindi actor Siddharth Bodke has been roped in to play the lead role in the series. While not a household name across all of India just yet, Bodke’s casting signals Hansal Mehta’s characteristic choice of talent over stardom — a formula that delivered Pratik Gandhi’s career-defining performance in Scam 1992.
Why Hansal Mehta Is the Perfect Man for This Story
Nobody does real-life scandal like Hansal Mehta. From bringing the stock market scandal alive in Scam 1992, to Scam 2003: The Telgi Story, to exploring investigative journalism in Scoop, the filmmaker has always kept the audience hooked with gripping dramas. His ability to make complex financial and legal battles feel deeply personal is exactly what the Sahara saga demands.
Makers have been quietly prepping for the show over the last few months, with extensive research to scale the story on the Sahara saga. This isn’t a rushed production — it’s been built carefully, and that alone is reason for excitement. pinkvilla
