SAP and S3NS have announced a strategic partnership aimed at expanding trusted cloud services across France, with global technology group Thales (https://www.thalesgroup.com/) becoming the inaugural customer. This collaboration seeks to enable digital sovereignty for highly regulated sectors by combining SAP’s enterprise applications and Business AI capabilities with S3NS’s secure cloud infrastructure.

The initiative addresses the growing demand for cloud business transformation in Europe, particularly within industries such as public administration, aerospace and defense, and operators of vital services, where data sovereignty and regulatory compliance are paramount.

SAP and S3NS: Leveraging SecNumCloud for Sensitive Workloads

Under the agreement, SAP RISE private cloud edition will be deployed by SAP Sovereign Cloud on S3NS’s SecNumCloud-qualified Cloud Platform, known as PREMI3NS. This deployment is expected to be commercially available by the second half of 2026. The platform is designed to ensure that data remains stored, processed, and encrypted within France, under French jurisdiction, while providing access to advanced cloud technology and SAP’s innovation stack, including AI-driven functionalities.

Thomas Saueressig, Chief Customer Officer and Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, highlighted the significance of the partnership. “This partnership represents a major step forward for our customers in France and sends a strong signal across Europe,” Saueressig stated. “Customers can combine SAP’s innovation and scalability within an environment that meets the highest regulatory requirements, enabling transformation without compromise.”

Thales Transforms ERP Landscape with Sovereign Cloud

As the first SAP customer within the S3NS trusted cloud environment, Thales is undertaking a significant modernization of its SAP ERP landscape. The company plans to adopt SAP’s ‘clean core’ principle to enhance long-term agility and future-readiness. This program will unify core business processes, including finance, supply chain, manufacturing, and procurement, on the PREMI3NS platform.

Pascal Bouchiat, Senior Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer at Thales, emphasized the strategic alignment. “SAP is a cornerstone of Thales’ transformation, with an established presence in supporting complex industrial operations and supply chain environments,” Bouchiat commented. “Leveraging SAP within a trusted cloud platform such as PREMI3NS by S3NS is a natural step in our transformation journey, delivering the security, resilience, and compliance the Group requires.”

Expanding Ecosystem for Digital Sovereignty

SAP’s selection of S3NS expands its cloud ecosystem in France, leveraging S3NS’s infrastructure designed to protect sensitive data against extraterritorial laws, in alignment with the SecNumCloud framework. This development is crucial for [latest industry developments (https://technosports.co.in/) concerning cloud adoption in regulated markets.

Martin Merz, President of SAP Sovereign Cloud, underscored France’s leadership in digital sovereignty. “France is leading the way in shaping digital sovereignty in Europe, and SecNumCloud sets a clear benchmark for a trusted cloud environment,” Merz said. “Together with S3NS, we are enabling customers to move their most critical workloads to the cloud under French jurisdiction – combining sovereignty and innovation in one consistent model.”

Hélène Bringer, President of S3NS, noted the endorsement from SAP. “Having a partner as demanding as SAP choosing S3NS is a strong endorsement of our trajectory and the continuous enrichment of our trusted cloud offering,” Bringer stated. “This collaboration marks an important step in expanding our ecosystem of leading software publishers, while accelerating our development.”

S3NS currently serves over sixty customers and offers a diverse range of services, with plans to expand its managed service offerings further, including Vertex AI services for AI adoption. This partnership signals a move towards making trusted cloud a scalable and industrialized reality for large enterprises and public sector organizations.
