Samsung’s new Exynos 2200 CPU gives disappointing results by only being 5 Percent Faster Than Exynos 2100

The Exynos 2200 has gotten a lot of attention, thanks to Samsung’s collaboration with AMD to offer a high-performance GPU to smartphones. When compared to the Exynos 2100, it looks that Samsung’s new SoC was more than just overhyped, according to the newest performance data.

Anyone thinking that Samsung would finally learn from its lengthy list of blunders and mass-produce a custom silicon that impresses in both performance and power efficiency would be disappointed by the newest data acquired by TechAltar regarding the Exynos 2200’s performance. Unfortunately, this was not to be because the octa-core CPU in the newest SoC is only 5% quicker than the cores in the Exynos 2100.

The Exynos 2200 numbers we got yesterday (vs. 2100) :
🔼 5% for CPU
🔼 17% for GPU
🔼 115% for NPU

No wonder they tried to cancel the dedicated Exynos launch event

The NPU figures, which were 115 per cent faster than last year’s, were the sole ray of hope we uncovered, but would it convert into real-world improvements? It’s really unlikely.

According to TechAltar, power efficiency and heat metrics were not given, which means things could grow a lot worse if the Exynos 2200 thermal throttles when it is overworked. He also claims that Qualcomm had a superior GPU, claiming that the chipset maker improved by 50% over the previous generation, extending the performance disparity.

However, in a recent OpenCL GPU test, the Exynos 2200 easily outperformed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Unfortunately, your happiness will be short-lived, as we previously reported that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 outperformed the Exynos 2200 in a GFXBench test. The Exynos 2200 outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 in multi-core performance but falls short in single-core performance.
