Samsung to witness a significant internal change after 2017, here’s all you need to know

Samsung Electronics, the Korean giant company, has a tight grip in various industries, including display, semiconductor, smartphone, television, and more. Earlier, in 2017, there were three divisions internally, and Samsung appointed three different leads for each division. Now, the company announces to have two internal divisions only. It will be the biggest change after 2017. Specifically, Samsung’s mobile and consumer electronics sections will marge in the coming days.

After this change, the two divisions will be the Device Solutions that contains the semiconductor business and the new SET section to nurture mobile, television, and consumer electronics.

Samsung to witness a significant internal change after 2017, here's what -

Jong-hee Han is the new co-CEO of the SET division, alongside of the Visual Display business. As per Samsung, he is the person responsible for the brand’s positive global footprint in the television market over the past 15 years. The company says he is “expected to strengthen the synergies among the different businesses in the SET Division and help drive new businesses and technologies.”

Device Solutions will be headed by Kyehyun Kyung, the former CEO of Samsung Electro-Mechanics. He has experience working in the firm’s flash memory product team and the DRAM section.

All the recent steps are to simplify the internal structure so that Samsung can put more focus and effort on growing the semiconductor section and in other fields. Samsung sets a goal to overtake TSMC in chip manufacturing by 2030. This massive change is probably one of the steps Samsung planned to achieve the goal.
