Samsung has improved the Smart Monitor M8, which it introduced last year. The Smart Monitor M8 billed as an all-arounder, can be used not only as a traditional external monitor but also as a Smart TV thanks to a Tizen-derived OS with game and video streaming apps. To that end, Samsung included speakers and a small Amazon Fire TV Stick-style remote with the original Smart Monitor M8.
While the Smart Monitor M8 was originally available in a single 32-inch size, Samsung has now released a smaller 27-inch model, mirroring its older Space Monitor series. The smaller Smart Monitor M8 retains the 4K resolution of its larger sibling, resulting in a higher pixel density. Both are available in Daylight Blue, Spring Green, Sunset Pink, and Warm White, as well as a height-adjustable stand with tilt support.
This year’s Samsung Smart Monitor M8 series includes stands that can pivot up to 90 degrees, which was missing from the original 32-inch model.
Furthermore, both sizes come with VESA mounts if you don’t want to use the included stand. The Smart Monitor M8 series supports mouse control functionality within SmartThings and Smart Hub, among other apps, providing greater convenience than the previous year’s version. Samsung also claims to have added a new My Contents feature that can display specific information, such as upcoming calendar entries, at a glance.
This year’s Smart Monitor M8 monitor will also include an upgraded SlimFit camera, which now operates at 2K resolution and is compatible with video conferencing apps like Google Meet. Samsung has not yet confirmed pricing or availability, but the previous Smart Monitor M8 took the company several months to do so.
