Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 Series of smartphones that debuted with the Exynos 2200 chip, these chips featured the AMD GPUs and were hyed to a great extent prior to the launch, however, when the device did launch, users were not happy as the Exynos 2200 did not live up to the hype.
Samsung will be launching a revamped chip by 2025:
As of now, the South Korean giant makes its in-house Exynos chip for its own smartphones, it also does sell these chips to other prominent OEMs such as Google and Xiaomi. If we were to believe the latest reports, Samsung has something big planned for the future.
It will be adopting Apple‘s approach by designing chips only for its smartphones. These new chips will be ready by 2025 and the responsibility of handling this division has been given to former Apple employee Kim Woo-Pyeong. He has been made the director of the recently established Packaging Solution Center which is located in the Device Solution America HQ. Before his stint at Apple, he had the experience of working in Texas Instruments and Qualcomm.
Business Korea, the source that revealed this does not explicitly specify that Kim’s first task will be to work on Exynos chips but it does mention packaging technology which is something that is employed by chipmakers to ensure they overcome integration issues.
We will have to wait for quite some time before we can get our hands on the updated chips from the brand. Hopefully, the future iterations of the chips live up to the hype that the company is accustomed to creating, reserving its chips exclusively for Samsung phones is a good move.
