With leaks from most reliable sources claiming that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will flaunt a Galaxy Note-like design and built-in stylus, it’s safe to assume that Note phones are not coming back. The successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which is Samsung’s second non-Note phone to get stylus support, on the other hand, is unlikely to feature a dedicated slot for the S Pen.
The revelation came from Naver and was reported by FrontTron on Twitter, claiming that early prototypes of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 don’t feature an S Pen holster. The holster is absent on the Galaxy Z Fold 3, so it was always optimistic to assume the feature will make its way to the successor in 2022.
Samsung usually carries out a thorough process of developing multiple device prototypes before signing off on the final design. So it’s still early days for us to be entirely sure about this. It’s worth noting that Samsung could make some crucial changes before agreeing on the design. The source claims that the company could decide on a final design for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 by March 2022.
Based on the assumption that Samsung would follow a similar launch strategy as the Galaxy Z Fold 3, the next-gen foldable is roughly nine months away from launch. However, we’ve already come across a fair bit of information on the device via leaks and rumors. A recent leak suggested that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Z Flip 4 could feature a new hinge.
The next generation of Samsung’s foldable Galaxy Z phones is rumored to be lighter and more durable than the current iteration. The devices are likely to offer the same battery capacity as their predecessors.
