Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE to Adopt Display from Galaxy Z Flip 6

Foldables will be more competitive in 2025, and it looks like Samsung plans to rework its lineup to shuffle the market, with the Galaxy Z Flip FE positioned as its cheapest foldable upcoming next year. One offering this model aims at is to use foldable tech but place it more in the mass market. The Galaxy Z Flip FE is said to be a more affordable version but is rumored to use the same display tech as the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Back in mid-2024, Samsung introduced its next-gen foldables, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6, which brought along a significantly brighter display on the Z Flip 6 — 2600 nits of max brightness compared to the 1750 nits of the Z Flip 5. A confirmation that it’ll feature the “Z Flip 6 panel” came in reply to a post about the Galaxy Z Flip FE from display industry analyst Ross Young. Though he didn’t go into detail, using an older display technology to save costs is out of the question, which is good news for customers who won’t have to settle for a sub-par display.

It could also signal improvements to display tech for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, but details are generally thin. It’s still unclear whether the Z Flip FE will have the same external display as the Z Flip 6. Since it’s a more affordable model, there’s a possibility it will feature a slightly smaller external screen, but it’s hoped it won’t be as small as previous Z Flip models, which only allowed viewing notifications.

For context, the Z Flip 6 features a 6.7-inch 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2x inner display with a resolution of 1080×2640, while its 3.4-inch Super AMOLED external display runs at 60Hz with a 720 x 748 resolution. Additionally, a Samsung executive confirmed that both the Galaxy Z Flip FE and Z Flip 7 will be powered by the Exynos 2500 chip.
