Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: 3 Ways the Z Flip 5 Flex Mode Update Sets a New Standard

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra grabbed the spotlight again, but this time, it’s because the Galaxy Z Flip 5 just got a huge Flex Mode optimization update. This isn’t some minor tweak—Samsung’s making it clear that foldables are sticking around. If you’ve been following Samsung’s software journey, now’s the time to pay attention.

Flex Mode on Z Flip 5—A Turning Point for Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Users

Early in 2023, Samsung’s push into foldables sparked both buzz and a fair bit of doubt. Those first Flex Mode features? They got the job done, but let’s be honest, they felt more like demos than finished tools. Jump to today: the new update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 finally brings the smooth multitasking Samsung’s always talked about. According to Android Authority, Flex Mode now kicks in automatically for a wider range of apps, plus you’ll find smarter controls for things like split-screen and camera previews.

So, what actually changed? Samsung isn’t just adding shiny animations or one-off tricks this time. The update brings changes you’ll use every day—think gesture controls that actually make sense, and far better support for third-party apps. Even those stubborn apps that used to ignore foldables now play nicely with Flex Mode. That’s a big deal, since it puts Samsung’s software right up there with, and sometimes ahead of, what you’ll see on the Samsung Galaxy S26. It’s a big confidence boost for anyone using the S26 Ultra.

Key stat: Flex Mode now covers more apps than ever before, so multitasking just got a whole lot easier for S26 Ultra users.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: How Z Flip 5’s Flex Mode Update Outshines the Competition

For quite a while, the knock on foldables was that they were just fancy toys—fun, but not really useful compared to mainstays like the Galaxy S26 Ultra or Apple’s Pro Max. This Z Flip 5 update shakes things up. With Flex Mode smarter and quicker to respond, Samsung’s found a way to fix a problem even the best traditional phones haven’t: real multitasking, packed into a pocket-friendly device.

You can now jump between folded and unfolded modes, and it’s so smooth, you barely notice the transition. Want hands-free camera controls, smoother video calls, or to jot a note at any angle? Now you can, no extra gear needed. Here’s the thing: the Galaxy S26 Ultra can’t do this without add-ons. And as XDA Developers points out, it’s the first time a mainstream foldable brings this kind of polish to Indian users.

taBold figure: The update landed in most regions just weeks after its announcement—way ahead of what competitors managed.
