Samsung is set to unveil its next-generation Galaxy S25 series smartphones at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, likely scheduled for January 22, 2025. Similar to the current-gen, the S25 series will feature three models, with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra leading the pack. This top-tier phone should deliver significant improvements in performance, camera, and display. It is expected to launch with the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC that offers a significant performance upgrade. A 16GB RAM option is rumored, an increase over the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 12GB max, which should bolster AI processing and support One UI 7 features.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra: Major Upgrades Expected in Performance, Camera, and Design
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will likely build on the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s display protection with the introduction of the second generation of Corning’s Gorilla Glass Armor, offering improved durability and anti-reflective capabilities. On the camera front, Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumored to pack a 50MP ultra-wide camera (Samsung JN3) to replace the 12MP shooter from the current variant and keep the 200MP primary camera and dual telephoto lenses (50MP with 5x zoom, and 10MP with 3x zoom) as well.
Besides its announcement, the Samsung Galaxy S25 series will also launch with the One UI 7 which is based on Android 15 and it brings some great features to the table including the Now Bar that allows for live notifications on the lock screen, an upgraded camera formatting UI, new app icon designs and enhanced widgets.
One UI 7 will introduce improved Galaxy AI capabilities, including better writing tools, call transcription, and personalized notifications. In fact, we expect the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra to have a flat-frame design with rounded corners, abandoning the squared-off frame of its predecessor but keeping the flat display. The rear could feature a five-camera setup with clues from the Galaxy Z Fold 6 design and the integrated S Pen will also remain part of the device.
