Samsung Galaxy S23 series officially is here – All You Need to Know

The new Galaxy S23 series features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor that has been overclocked and was created especially for Samsung. This chipset is the first to feature real-time semantic segmentation for the selfie camera on a phone.

Not to mention the 200MP Samsung ISOCELL sensor that is unique to the S23 Ultra or the S23 and S23+ panels’ increased brightness. Reviewing the new Galaxy S23 series features will make you drool over them throughout 2023, so let’s get started!

The Galaxy S23 phones will go on sale on February 17, 2023, one week earlier than the S22 launch the previous year. If you pre-registered for one, you’ll receive a reservation bonus and access to nearly three weeks of preorder promotions on top of that.

Samsung maintained the Galaxy S23 line’s prices from the previous year, but increased the Galaxy S23basic +’s storage by two times and added a 512GB tier to the S23, which now starts at a base price of $799 for the 128GB model. The Galaxy S23 Ultra costs $1,199.99 at carriers, excluding trade-in incentives, or users can pay $33.33 per month for 36 months to get it.

The Galaxy S23 series features a 200MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor from Samsung as its largest hardware update, while the S23 and S23+ also have a dual PDAF 12MP Ultrawide camera with macro mode capabilities from the Ultra but retain the 50MP main camera sensors from its predecessors.

Similarly to last year, the S23 Ultra provides 10MP telephoto and periscope zoom sensors.

In a 1/1.3-inch optical size, the 200MP sensor has 200 million pixels with a 0.6-micrometer (m) resolution. With a sensor this size used in 108MP main smartphone cameras, customers of high-end smartphones can have a high-resolution camera without having to cope with noticeable camera bumps.

It won’t be the first time that Samsung sells an ultra-high-resolution sensor to other phone manufacturers so they can boast about it, like its most recent 108MP and 200MP devices, but keeps its customized version for themselves and the Galaxy S Ultra series for its most recent generations. Of course, the S22 Ultra’s 108MP sensor isn’t a dud.

Samsung is able to be stingy with the gigabytes that go into its phones since it makes its own internal flash storage chips and RAM memory. At least for the S23+ and Ultra models, Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series finally ends the trend of 128GB beginning storage.

The Ultra adopts a boxier shape, while the normal S23 and the S23+ drop the camera island plateau on the rear and take on the individual protruding lenses from the Ultra.
