Samsung Galaxy S23 FE: Leaked Specs and Launch Window Hinted

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE: New rumours point to imminent launch

Samsung is rumored to be preparing for the launch of a new smartphone in its Fan Edition (FE) series. In January 2022, the company released the Galaxy S21 FE, which was believed to be the last model in the Galaxy FE lineup. The absence of a Galaxy S22 FE fueled speculation that Samsung might discontinue its affordable flagship series.

However, recent rumors indicate that the Fan Edition series may not be over just yet. There are indications that Samsung could release the Galaxy S23 FE later this year, and some details about its specifications and features have surfaced online.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE Launch: What is Known So Far?

A recent report has provided information about the battery specifications and other details of the Galaxy S23 FE. The device has apparently appeared on the SafetyKorea certification website, which verifies the safety of electrical and electronic equipment in South Korea. According to GalaxyClub, the battery with the model number EB-BS711ABY, which has been spotted on the certification website, is believed to belong to the Galaxy S23 FE with the model number SM-S711.

Unfortunately, the certification does not disclose the battery capacity of the Galaxy S23 FE. However, there are speculations that the phone might come with a 4500mAh battery.

Additionally, a report from WinFuture, which refers to import-export databases, reveals some details about prototypes of the alleged device. The European variant of the Galaxy S23 FE, identified by model number SM-711B, explicitly mentions “S23 FE.” The database also indicates that the phone will feature a 50MP main camera sensor. These entries were recorded in the database by the end of April 2023, shortly after the initial manufacturing tools and components were mentioned. The report notes that it usually takes at least three months for a new Samsung smartphone to be available for sale after it is first mentioned in these databases.

Based on this information, it appears that the Galaxy S23 FE is unlikely to be unveiled at the upcoming Unpacked event next month and is more likely to be launched in August or September. Samsung has not officially confirmed any details regarding the release of the Galaxy S23 FE, so it is advised to approach the leaked launch timeline with caution.

There have also been leaks regarding other aspects of the Galaxy S23 FE. It is expected to be powered by the Exynos 2200 SoC, which differs from the Galaxy S23 series that uses the custom-developed Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Samsung has often employed the same chipset in both its flagship series and the Fan Edition variants. However, to keep costs down and maintain differentiation between the flagship models and the Fan Edition, Samsung seems to have opted for its in-house Exynos 2200 SoC for the Galaxy S23 FE, which may be less efficient.
