Samsung’s next flagship generation is shaping up to be its biggest silicon bet in years. A fresh GSMA database listing has all but confirmed that the Galaxy S27 lineup will expand to four models, with 2nm chips across the board — and Samsung’s own Exynos division getting a real shot at flagship glory again.

Four Models, Officially in the Database

According to previous reports, the Galaxy S27 series will include four devices: Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra. All four model numbers now sit in regulatory databases — SM-S952U, SM-S956U, SM-S957B/DS, and SM-S958U — roughly seven months ahead of an expected January 2027 launch.

Galaxy S27 Pro Leak: Samsung's New Model Set to Slot Between Ultra and Plus

Why 2nm Is the Big Story

This is where Samsung’s ambitions really show. The Ultra model is rumored to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, while Samsung’s broader strategy diversifies supply by sourcing select panels from BOE amid rising component costs. But the bigger headline is Samsung’s own silicon comeback — Samsung’s President for System LSI, Park Yong-In, has publicly confirmed development of the Exynos 2700 chipset for the first time, stating the company is developing it “without any setbacks, aiming for application in top-tier smartphones.”

We covered this exact confirmation in detail in our Exynos 2700 deep dive, where Samsung’s chip chief’s comments marked the first official acknowledgment of the silicon.

The Regional Chip Split Explained

The Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ could use the 2nm Exynos 2700 chip in most markets except Canada, China, and the US, where they may instead feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 or Pro variant. The Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro globally. Both upcoming Snapdragon chips are fabricated using TSMC’s 2nm process, carrying model numbers SM8950 and SM8975 respectively, each featuring two prime cores, three performance cores, and three efficiency cores.

This split mirrors what we already detailed in our full breakdown of the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s expected specs, where the 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 was tipped to pair with LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage for a genuine generational leap.

A New Pro Tier Changes the Pricing Picture

The Pro is not replacing the Plus — it sits between the Plus and Ultra, marking the first time Samsung has fielded four concurrent mainline S-series flagships. Early reports suggest the S27 Pro could be a more compact version of the Ultra, likely missing the S Pen, with a roughly 6.47-inch display sitting between the standard S27 and the S27+.

What This Means for Buyers

A four-model lineup with a genuine 2nm Exynos contender is a meaningful shift for Samsung — if the Exynos 2700 delivers, it could finally close the long-standing performance gap with Snapdragon variants sold elsewhere. Rising component costs could push pricing higher than previous generations, so expect this added choice to come with a price.
