Sajid Nadiadwala to Produce Lavish Biopic on Lalit Modi, India’s Most Talked-About Sporting Figure

Few names in Indian sports history spark as much conversation as Lalit Modi, and now his larger-than-life journey is officially headed to the big screen. According to Pinkvilla’s exclusive sources, filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala is set to produce a biopic on Modi’s life under his banner, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment — and given the scale of Modi’s story, this one’s expected to be mounted big.

From revolutionizing Indian cricket through the creation of the IPL to his controversial tenure as the league’s commissioner, Modi’s life has been a rollercoaster of ambition, success, and scandal — exactly the kind of larger-than-life material Bollywood biopics thrive on.

A source close to the project revealed that the goal isn’t just to dramatize the headlines, but to genuinely explore the man behind them, with the writing and development phase still underway as the makers work to get the story right before moving forward.

Adding credibility to the project, writer-producer Sneha Rajani is confirmed to be part of the development team. Interestingly, Modi himself had previously acknowledged that a biopic on his life was in the works, with Rajani leading that very team — meaning this isn’t just industry buzz, but a project with the subject’s own involvement.
