India’s Blue Tigresses Dominate SAFF Women’s Championship 2026: Full List of Individual Award Winners

Seven years is a long time to wait. But when India’s Blue Tigresses finally lifted the SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 trophy, every moment of that wait felt worth it. In a tournament where they were utterly dominant — scoring 18 goals in four matches and conceding just one — the girls in blue didn’t just win. They announced themselves to all of South Asian football with a statement that was impossible to ignore.

A Title Won the Hard Way

India topped Group B after thrashing Maldives 11-0 in their opener and then handing defending champions Bangladesh a 3-0 defeat. They cruised past Bhutan in the semi-final before sealing their sixth SAFF Women’s Championship title with a 3-1 victory over Bangladesh in the final. It was a complete, commanding team effort — but within that team, certain individuals shone even brighter than the rest.

SAFF Women’s Championship 2026 — Individual Awards At a Glance

Most Valuable Player — Sanfida Nongrum

The midfielder from Meghalaya had just turned 21 a few days before the tournament ended — and she played with the composure and decisiveness of someone far beyond her years. Sanfida scored two goals at the most critical moments in the entire competition. Her strike against Bhutan in the semi-final sent India to the final. Then, with the score tied at 1-1 in the final, she stepped up again in the early minutes of the second half and shifted the momentum decisively in India’s favour. Former Garhwal United midfielder, big-match player, and now SAFF MVP — Sanfida Nongrum is a name Indian football must never let go. 🌟

Golden Boot — Aveka Singh

At just 22, Aveka has already played for top American and European clubs and currently represents Næstved HG in the Danish Women’s First Division. Her international experience was on full display as she emerged as India’s top scorer — netting 4 goals, all coming in the opening rout against Maldives. Even when the goals dried up in the knockouts, she remained a constant menace — pressing, creating, and threatening — playing a vital role in keeping the tournament’s toughest defences on the back foot. ⚽

Golden Glove — Panthoi Chanu Elangbam

The 30-year-old East Bengal custodian was India’s fortress at the back. Three clean sheets. One solitary goal conceded across the entire tournament. Panthoi didn’t just make saves — she commanded her area, organised the defence, and led from the last line. From back-to-back IWL titles with East Bengal to a SAFF Championship — silverware simply follows this woman everywhere she goes. Arguably the finest goalkeeper in South Asia right now, and this tournament only cemented that reputation further. 🧤

Sanfida’s composure, Aveka’s instinct, and Panthoi’s brilliance were the individual stories within the team story. Indian women’s football is alive, thriving, and ready for the world. 🇮🇳💪
