Roblox turned 20 this year, and it just used its biggest developer event to prove it’s nowhere near slowing down. At the 12th annual Roblox Developers Conference, the company unveiled a wave of updates spanning how players experience games, how creators build them, and how much creators can actually earn — with players having already logged 29 billion hours on the platform last quarter alone across 180+ countries.

Roblox Big Announcements : Overview

Category	Key Update	What It Means
Play	Roblox Everywhere	Games become standalone apps on mobile, PC, and consoles
Play	Play on the Web	Join games in-browser (Chrome first) with no install needed
Play	Play Offline	Single-player campaigns work without a network connection
Build	Build Expansion	Prompt-to-publish tool now live in Serbia and Singapore
Build	Scene Generator	Text + image prompt creates a ready-to-edit game scene
Grow	Roblox Wallet	Creators get real-currency payouts and daily automatic pay
Grow	Roblox Card	Spend earned balance directly, rolling out in 2027

Why This Matters for Creators

The “Build” tool is arguably the headline story here. Since its alpha launch in New Zealand, creators have published roughly 9,000 games through it — and 71% of those users had never touched Roblox Studio before. That’s a meaningful shift: game creation is becoming accessible to people with zero coding or design background, not just veteran developers.

On the earnings side, creators have collectively made over $5 billion since Roblox’s DevEx program launched in 2013, with $1.7 billion earned in the past year alone. Roblox Wallet and Roblox Card push that further by giving creators faster, more flexible access to real money instead of just in-platform currency — a sign the company is treating top creators more like small business owners.

Discovery is getting smarter too: Roblox’s ranking system now separately optimizes for younger players (who favor short-form games) and older players (who stick with deeper, long-term experiences), while also testing rankings based on how many new players a game brings to the platform.
