Robert Lewandowski is Barcelona’s new number 9 following the Camp Nou presentation

Robert Lewandowski has been presented as a new player for Barcelona ahead of the 22/23 season. The Polish striker made the move from Bayern Munich for around €50 million, and has now been revealed.

The forward will be wearing the number 9 jersey at Barcelona, just like he did for Bayern and the Poland national team. The number was previously worn by Memphis Depay at the club, but he has vacated the number for Lewandowski to take.

“I think my age is not important right now, it’s just a number. I feel better than when I was 29,” Robert Lewandowski said.

“I know that Barcelona was not going through an easy time, but when I spoke with Joan and heard about the project and the way they wanted to follow, I thought that the best thing was to make the jump to Barcelona,” he added.

Depay is working to terminate his contract with Barcelona, with only one year remaining on his current deal. The forward joined from Lyon a season ago, but has dropped down in the pecking order now. And with the arrival of the new signings, it seems unlikely that he will be getting a lot of playing time.

The fact that he has vacated his number 9 shirt could be a sign that an exit from the club is only a matter of time.
