Few stars get a documentary, a podcast and a holiday movie on the same streamer within ten days. Netflix has now confirmed all three for Rob Lowe, and all will stream globally, according to What’s on Netflix.
Lowe himself had already let the documentary date slip on a podcast appearance. Turns out he got it right.
Rob Lowe’s Netflix Lineup
| Title | Type | Release Date |
|---|---|---|
| Rob Lowe: The Outsider | Documentary (1h 31m) | Tuesday, November 24, 2026 |
| In a Holidaze | Christmas rom-com | Wednesday, December 2, 2026 |
| Literally! With Rob Lowe | Video podcast | Thursday, December 3, 2026 |
The Outsider: A Career Beyond the Highlight Reel
Director Chris Smith, known for Fyre, Tiger King and Sr., is behind this one. Netflix describes it as a deeper look at what it took Lowe to last in Hollywood, not just a victory lap.
The film traces his path from early hits like The Outsiders and St. Elmo’s Fire to his Emmy-nominated run on The West Wing. It mixes new interviews with Lowe and people close to him, plus private and public moments that shaped him. The title nods to the 1983 film that launched him, and Lowe has teased unseen footage, including his audition for it.
The Podcast Goes Video
Literally! With Rob Lowe is the surprise of the announcement. Under a new partnership between SiriusXM, Netflix and Lowe, new video episodes will premiere exclusively on Netflix every Thursday starting December 3. Audio versions stay on the SiriusXM Podcast Network.
Netflix will also carry more than 30 older episodes. If you like entertainment chatter, our Entertainment section has plenty more.
Don’t Miss In a Holidaze
Landing between the two is this Christmas rom-com based on Christina Lauren’s bestselling novel. Maddie Ziegler plays a directionless twenty-something stuck in a Christmas time loop at her family’s cabin. Lowe stars alongside Graham Phillips and Elias Kacavas, and Tiffany Paulsen, who directed Holidate, writes and directs.
A Long History With Netflix
This isn’t Lowe’s first time on the platform. His Netflix credits include:
- Holiday in the Wild (2019)
- Attack of the Hollywood Clichés! (2021)
- Dog Gone (2023)
- Unstable, the comedy series he co-created with his son John Owen Lowe
