What Is It About?
Bear (Michael Johnston) is a lonely, selfish music store employee desperate to win over his crush, Nikki (Inde Navarrette). He breaks a mysterious novelty toy called the “One Wish Willow” and gets exactly what he wished for. But his desires come with a dark and sinister price.
The cast also includes Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter. The story was partly inspired by a classic Treehouse of Horror episode of The Simpsons.
How a Small Film Became a Giant?
Writer, director, and editor Curry Barker first built an audience on YouTube with his comedy partner Cooper Tomlinson, then turned to viral horror. After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025, Obsession became Focus Features’ biggest film to date. Barker is already attached to direct an A24 reboot of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
