RMZ, Asia’s leading integrated alternative-assets platform, announced a strategic investment partnership with Maharashtra government agencies MMRDA and CIDCO at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos on January 22. The collaboration will facilitate investments up to $30 billion (approximately ₹2.55 lakh crore) across Mumbai Metropolitan Region over the next decade, with potential to generate approximately 3 lakh direct and indirect jobs.

Data Centers and AI Infrastructure Lead Investment Thrust

The partnership with CIDCO focuses on developing new data center and commercial projects in Navi Mumbai starting FY 2026-27. RMZ already operates approximately 230 MW colocation capacity across its digital infrastructure platform in Mumbai, positioning the expansion as the next phase of future-ready data center and AI infrastructure aligned with global standards.

For infrastructure investors, the collaboration addresses India’s surging demand for data-driven services and digital resilience. “Navi Mumbai is fast becoming the preferred destination for high-value data centre and digital infrastructure capabilities,” stated a CIDCO spokesperson, with the agency facilitating necessary infrastructure, approvals, and ecosystem support.

MMRDA Partnership Covers Master Planning to Asset Management

Under the MMRDA partnership, RMZ will lead investment structuring and capital mobilization alongside master planning, development, and long-term asset management across real estate assets, infrastructure, logistics parks, and data centers. MMRDA provides land identification and aggregation plus policy-level support and approval processes.

“Large, long-duration investments require more than capital; they require alignment, trust, and strong institutional frameworks,” explained Manoj Menda, Chairman of RMZ’s Supervisory Board. “Maharashtra’s emphasis on planned development and long-term economic value creation provides the right foundation for such partnerships.”

The phased $30 billion deployment over ten years represents patient capital approach rather than immediate large-scale construction, allowing infrastructure development to match demand patterns. The 3 lakh job creation potential spans construction, operations, technology services, and ancillary industries across the project lifecycle.

Deepak Chhabria, President of RMZ Infrastructure, emphasized the partnership supports expansion of “efficient, sustainable platforms that can support India’s growing digital and data-driven economy over the long term,” with focus on global-standard AI infrastructure.

The Davos announcement signals Maharashtra’s strategy to attract technology-led infrastructure projects beyond traditional manufacturing FDI, positioning Mumbai Metropolitan Region as India’s digital infrastructure hub competing with global data center markets in Singapore, Northern Virginia, and London.
