Cheat developers just had a very bad week. Activision has taken its fight against Call of Duty cheating offline, and the numbers behind that crackdown are landing right as Modern Warfare 4’s Open Beta goes live.
The Crackdown by the Numbers
RICOCHET Anti-Cheat, Activision’s ongoing security effort against cheat makers, shared a fresh update this week detailing the scale of its offline enforcement push. According to the update, Activision has disrupted more than 375 cheat reseller operations, served over 80 cease-and-desist demands, and shut down more than 30 vendors outright. The company has also made clear this isn’t the finish line — further action, including litigation where necessary, remains on the table as Activision continues pursuing cheat developers and sellers through the courts to protect fair play.
Timed With the Modern Warfare 4 Beta
This update arrived alongside the Beta Weekend 1 rollout for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. Switch 2 players can jump into the Open Beta this weekend, running from August 28 through September 1, with pre-loading already available. The full game launches on Switch 2 on October 23.

Modern Warfare 4 is set in a rapidly escalating global conflict centered on the Korean Peninsula. Its multiplayer aims for grounded, precise combat built around fluid movement, and will support cross-play, cross-progression, and optional Joy-Con 2 mouse controls. The game also introduces Ballistic Authority, a new weapons-first system designed to deliver what the developers call the most authentic Modern Warfare gunplay yet.
