Redfall, a vampire co-op shooter, now has the long-awaited 60 frames per second option thanks to a recent update from Bethesda. Redfall received a fair amount of buzz before it was released, and for good reason. After all, it was a first-party Xbox game created by Arkane Austin. Redfall was unfortunately released with a lot of bugs, which resulted in a lot of bad reviews and a lot of fans quitting the game altogether.
Redfall adds a 60FPS feature for consoles along with other updates
Redfall had a respectable player base when it first launched, but gamers quickly abandoned the game when its technical issues became clear. The number of concurrent players for Redfall on Steam was merely in the single digits because so many people stopped playing the game. Though Bethesda and Arkane aren’t giving up on the game, it remains to be seen if anything will persuade fans to give it another opportunity. Redfall’s second significant update is currently ready for download and introduces some significant changes to the game.
The update also fixes a lot of the technical flaws and other issues that have plagued Redfall since its release. It also adds stealth takedowns and makes some other combat-related enhancements, such as increasing the amount of adversaries in the open world. On paper, this appears to be a significant update for Redfall, but again, it’s too early to tell if it will be successful in luring away lapsed gamers.
Even though Bethesda has stated that it would continue to work on Redfall, many people may already be suffering because of the damage that may already have been done. It’s difficult to say if the game update will be sufficient to give the co-op vampire shooting game the boost it needs to regain some importance given that the game’s debut state was appallingly terrible and that its release coincides with the release of so many other games. Fans shouldn’t hold their breath, but if this update succeeds in persuading gamers to give Redfall another opportunity, perhaps more big content drops will be created to further extend the game’s life.
