Saddle up and finish your story, partner. Red Dead Redemption is leaving the Netflix mobile games library on December 2, 2026, exactly one year after it arrived. It came with the Undead Nightmare expansion and a new mobile control scheme, though without multiplayer, and it marked the game’s mobile debut.

A Familiar Pattern With Rockstar Games
This isn’t Netflix’s first Rockstar goodbye. The Grand Theft Auto Definitive Editions arrived in December 2023. GTA III and Vice City left a year later, and San Andreas followed in December 2025, just days after Red Dead Redemption arrived to take its place. Netflix could still strike a last-minute extension, but that has only happened once before, and it bought just a few extra months.
Why Is It Leaving?
Netflix hasn’t given a reason, but licensing is the most likely explanation. A Netflix representative previously said that games are removed as licenses expire, just like series and films.
Popularity doesn’t seem to be the issue. One estimate put the Netflix edition at around 3.3 million installs after just over five weeks, and another pushed mobile downloads past 10 million by February. Netflix’s co-CEO also compared its performance to GTA.
The removal fits a wider trend. Netflix has pulled more than 50 games since December 2024, while shifting its focus toward cloud games on TV and kids’ titles. It is still chasing big names, though, and Capcom’s Monster Hunter Rise is on the way.
What Happens to Your Game and Save?
Once the date passes, the Netflix version stops working even if it’s still installed on your phone. If you’re partway through Marston’s story or fighting the undead, finish before December 2.
The game isn’t leaving mobile completely. Rockstar sells a standalone version on the App Store and Google Play. The catch is that your Netflix save won’t carry over, so you’d be starting from scratch.
What Should You Do Now?
Prioritize finishing the main story and Undead Nightmare while you still can, and decide if the paid version is worth a replay. For more streaming and gaming updates, keep exploring Technosports so you never miss what’s coming and going.
