Rebel Kid Apoorva Mukhija Just Moved To New York — Here’s Why

Content creator Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as The Rebel Kid, has dropped a major life update: she’s officially left India behind. In a candid chat on Untriggered By AminJaz, the influencer revealed she’s relocated to New York City to pursue an MBA, calling it a dream she’s held onto for years.

Why Did Apoorva Move To New York?

Apoorva said she’d travelled extensively before, but something about New York clicked instantly. She described the city’s fast pace, style, food, and architecture as exactly what she’d always imagined from watching it in countless web series. She applied to just one college in the city and got in, sealing the decision. On Instagram Stories, she confirmed it plainly: “So I don’t live in India anymore.”

Apoorva Mukhija: The Move

Leaving Behind The “Kaleshi Aurat” Persona

Apoorva admitted the move means leaving friends, her career momentum, and familiar surroundings — a genuinely daunting trade-off despite it being a long-held dream. She also signaled a shift in her content approach, saying her “kaleshi aurat” (combative persona) era is over, and that she now understands what resonates with her audience without needing to force constant uploads.

The Shadow Of India’s Got Latent

Apoorva also opened up about the toll of being repeatedly “cancelled” online. During the India’s Got Latent controversy, Mukhija revealed she faced death and rape threats, as well as acid attack threats from trolls following her comments on the show. She said she now filters herself carefully before speaking in her vlogs, though she remains unsure what might trigger backlash next — and noted that even brief cancellation cycles hit her brand deals and income directly.
