Real Madrid plan to extend Benzema’s contract till 2023

Real Madrid are set to offer Karim Benzema a new deal that will extend his time at the club till 2023.

The striker is considered untouchable by the board, in the sense that he will not be sold at all. Benzema maintains a great relationship with the club, and Florentino Perez holds the veteran in high regard, as one of the most important names for the team.

Benzema’s outstanding performances for Madrid in the last few seasons have earned him a return to the France national team. The 33-year-old’s current deal runs until next year, and Madrid will start talks about the deal when the timing is right, which could be anytime from now till the end of the season. But, to avoid a similar situation to that of Sergio Ramos, they will be hoping to sort the situation out quickly.

As part of Didier Dechamps’ squad for Euro 2020, the player was among the top scorers in the tournament. He scored four goals in France’s four games before their early exit and was one of the standout players of the tournament.

This is Benzema’s twelfth year as part of the Real Madrid squad, since being signed from Lyon in 2009. Several strikers have been brought in to compete with him for game time, but he has prevailed each and every time and is without a doubt the most important and productive player on the team following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.
