Real Madrid have done it again — not on the pitch this time, but in the boardroom. Real Madrid is, for the third consecutive year, the most valuable football brand in the world and, for the fifth consecutive year, the strongest brand, according to the Football 50-2026 report published by Brand Finance.

The Headline Numbers
The Football 50-2026 report assigns Real Madrid a brand value of €2.4 billion and a strength score of 95.8 out of 100. The value of the club’s brand has grown by 25%, setting a new record.

The figure sets a new record and makes Los Blancos the first club to surpass the €2 billion mark in brand value in the more than two-decade history of this ranking.
Why Real Madrid’s Brand Is Booming
Brand Finance highlights that Real Madrid has become “the first football club to surpass 2 billion euros in brand value in the more than 20-year history of this ranking, after once again achieving record revenues of €1.221 billion during the 2025/26 fiscal year, marking the third consecutive year in which the club has set global revenue records in football.”
The valuation makes Los Blancos the first club in the 15-year history of the ranking to cross the €2 billion threshold, largely bolstered by record commercial performance and the full-capacity operation of the renovated Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
With hundreds of millions of fans worldwide, international sponsorships and the star power of players such as Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Júnior, Real Madrid remain at the pinnacle of commercial football.

Barcelona Close But Still Second
Barcelona’s brand value increased 15% to just under €2 billion, leaving Spain’s two biggest clubs comfortably at the top of the global football landscape. Brand Finance attributes part of Barcelona’s growth to their return to Spotify Camp Nou after more than two years and the club’s two consecutive La Liga titles.

“The continued dominance of Real Madrid and Barcelona highlights the extraordinary strength of the two most recognised football club brands in the world,” said Pilar Alonso Ulloa, Brand Finance’s Managing Director for Iberia and South America, pointing to the clubs’ global recognition, ability to attract stars and capacity to turn their popularity into commercial value as major reasons why competitors have struggled to close the gap.
Arsenal’s Historic Rise
Arsenal is one of the standout performers of the 2026 ranking, climbing five places to third — its highest-ever position in the Football 50 — with brand value rising 28% to €1.5 billion, following its first Premier League title in 22 years and a Champions League final appearance.
Arsenal has also overtaken Manchester United to become the UK’s strongest football club brand, with a BSI score of 94.0/100, ranking fourth globally.
The Global Picture
The combined brand value of the world’s top 50 clubs has reached a record €23.9 billion, while their enterprise value has risen to €79.7 billion. This is the highest annual growth recorded in the history of sports brands.
The Brand Finance report says the top 10 clubs now account for more than 60 per cent of football’s total brand value.
There are eight Premier League teams in the top 20 and 19 in the top 50. The only non-European club in the top 50 is Brazil’s Flamengo in 32nd place.
Ones to Watch — Aston Villa & VfB Stuttgart
Aston Villa have been named the 2026 football brand to watch after growing their brand value by more than 60%, while VfB Stuttgart is the fastest-growing brand in the top 50, almost doubling in value to €183.5 million.
What This Means for Spanish Football
Brand Finance believes the next challenge for Spanish football is to use the international reach of Real Madrid and Barcelona to increase the value and visibility of other clubs and of La Liga as a whole, also pointing toward the 2030 World Cup — hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco alongside Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay — as another major opportunity for Spanish football’s international profile.
