Real Madrid 2-1 Sevilla: Vinicius wins it late for Los Blancos once again

Real Madrid defeated Sevilla 2-1 to hold their lead at the top of the table. With Atletico Madrid winning their game against Cadiz 4-1 earlier, Real ran the risk of being only one point ahead of them if they didn’t get the win. But, things eventually played out in their favour as they picked up three points at home.

Rafa Mir opened the scoring for the visitors. Marcos Acuna launched a corner kick into the box that found Mir unmarked. The striker generated enough power on his header and beat Thibaut Courtois near the left post to score his fifth goal of the season so far.

But, half an hour into the game, Real Madrid’s talisman, Karim Benzema pounced on an error by Sevilla goalkeeper Bono to equalise. The Frenchman’s instincts allowed him to make a move for the ball, which had a small chance of dropping. But, Bono’s mistake in gathering the ball allowed Benzema just enough time to tap it in.

Vinicius Jr came up clutch for Los Blancos yet again, scoring an outstanding goal from outside the box. Eder Militao switched the play out to the left wing to find the Brazilian, who cut inside and left the keeper sprawling to make a save.

Vinicius now has nine goals in the league this season. The 21-year-old is now making a solid claim for himself to be the best youngster in the world with such consistent performances for the biggest club in the world.
