RCB owner Diageo India has announced Rs. 75 crores program ‘Raising the Bar’ to revive the hospitality industry

IPL club Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) parent company, Diageo India has declared a Rs. 75 crores program to revive the hospitality sector hit by the Coronavirus. Virat Kohli led RCB team’s owners are going to support the emerging hotel sector through this program. 

The Rs. 75 crores program is named as Raising the Bar and will support the pubs, bars, and restaurants serving alcohol. The program will assist the business welcome back clients and recover following the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2-year program will support the revitalization and recovery of qualified bars, pubs and restaurants serving alcohol in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru among others.

The ‘Raising the Bar’ program was designed following a survey of pub owners to determine priorities to support reopening. Their top priorities contained hygiene measures support and functional equipment and coaching to transform their outlets when they reopen.

Mr Anand Kripalu, Managing Director & CEO, Diageo India commented on the launch of ‘Raising the Bar’ program: “The Indian Hospitality and F&B industry have witnessed an unprecedented loss of revenues. This has impacted many start-ups and MSMEs as well as the livelihood of millions of people. Pubs, Bars and Restaurants are an integral part of our communities, bringing people together to socialise and celebrate – something we have all missed during the lockdown.”

This program will offer targeted non-cash assistance like physical equipment required for outlets to reopen such as hygiene kits with top quality permanent sanitiser dispensers, medical-grade hand sanitiser and a wide range of personal protection equipment.

It is aimed to help the pubs, bars and restaurants serving alcohol to establish partnerships with on-line bookings and cashless systems, mobile bars and outdoor equipment.
