Two leading ladies. One film. Zero drama. Rashmika Mandanna is done letting the internet write a rivalry story that simply doesn’t exist
With Homi Adajania’s romantic comedy Cocktail 2 now in cinemas, Rashmika Mandanna wasted no time throwing the female rivalry narrative out the window in a candid conversation with Variety India, praising her experience of sharing the frame with Kriti Sanon.
“I think that myth is so outdated, and it’s high time we completely throw it out the window. Working with Kritzu (Kriti Sanon) has been absolutely special, and if anything, this film has given me a friend more than anything else,” the Animal actress expressed.
Refreshing, honest, and long overdue.

The On-Set Sisterhood That Changed Everything
According to Rashmika, the atmosphere on the sets of Cocktail 2 was entirely rooted in cheering and rooting for each other. She and Kriti bonded over shared meals, laughed between takes, and celebrated each other’s individual moments.
“I truly believe there is enough room under the sun for all of us to shine. When women support women, the energy on set becomes magical — and I think genuine warmth and sisterhood will be reflected beautifully on screen for everyone to see,” she added.
That’s not just a quote — that’s a movement.

A Role That Pushed Her Boundaries
Rashmika described playing Diya as a complete 180 from what audiences are used to seeing her in, calling it “the most urban role I’ve played” and admitting it felt “incredibly refreshing.” She noted that the last thing she wants is to get too comfortable or boxed into a specific image.
Cocktail 2 also marks her return to cinemas after her wedding to Vijay Deverakonda — and she’s keeping the two worlds beautifully separate, letting the work speak for itself.
The idea of female rivalry in Bollywood has long been a media-driven myth — and it’s moments like these that finally start dismantling it.
