Ramayana Trailer 2 Has the Internet Divided: Epic Visuals or Shaky VFX?

Some trailers make you hit replay. Others start an argument in the comments. The new Ramayana trailer managed both. With the Ranbir Kapoor and Yash starrer set to hit screens this Diwali, the second trailer has social media buzzing.

Ramayana: Overvieew

What Is the Film About?

Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is a big-screen retelling of the classic Indian epic. You can read the story’s background on Wikipedia’s Ramayana page. The new trailer raises the stakes and promises a big-screen experience, and audiences seem to agree it has the scale.

The Praise: “Peak Cinema”

Most reactions on X (formerly Twitter) were enthusiastic. One user ranked the trailer’s visuals above those of the Avengers: Doomsday trailer and called Yash’s casting as Ravana the best of the decade, singling out the shot of him sitting among the fallen. Another predicted an all-time blockbuster and called it what India’s biggest film should look like. The Ravana versus Jatayu moment drew particular excitement, with fans expecting theatres to erupt when it plays. Others praised the background score and the sheer scale, and some predicted “mayhem” at the Diwali box office.

The Criticism: VFX Under the Microscope

Not everyone was convinced. One viewer rated the performances highly but felt several VFX shots were disappointing for a film of this size. The argument was that a project this ambitious should make people say “wow” instead of questioning what they’re seeing. It’s a fair point, and a reminder that audiences hold epic films to a high standard.

Why This Trailer Matters?

A second trailer is where a film’s final pitch happens. It helps convert curious viewers into ticket buyers, and the mixed reaction suggests the final VFX polish will be closely watched. Still, the dominant mood is excitement, and anticipation for Diwali is clearly high.
