Ralf Rangnick’s appointment at Manchester United will be announced within 48 hours

Ralf Rangnick, who is expected to join Manchester United on a six-month deal before taking up a consultant post in the hierarchy, is getting closer to being confirmed as an interim manager. Following the team’s humiliating defeat to Watford last week, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired, with Michael Carrick taking over as interim manager.

The former United midfielder was in charge of his side’s 2-0 triumph over Villarreal earlier this week and will be in control again when they travel to Stamford Bridge to face league leaders Chelsea. That could be his final game in command, as the club prepares to announce Ralf Rangnick’s appointment till the end of the season.

Confirmation within 48 Hours

Manchester United is expected to confirm Rangnick’s appointment within the next 48 hours, according to The Times. According to the article, some United first-team players were irritated by being kept in the dark, but they are nonetheless enthusiastic about the appointment. Rangnick will receive a large wage raise following his departure from Lokomotiv Moscow, as well as a bonus if the team wins a championship or qualifies for the Champions League.

Rangnick’s appointment gets the SN stamp of approval… Overall, Manchester United supporters have been surprised by the club’s decision — simply because it makes sense on all fronts.

Rangnick will make an instant influence on the field, and after a six-month stint as temporary manager, he will have a say in boardroom decisions as to the board’s first recognized football specialist.

Rangnick is expected to play a key role in selecting United’s next permanent manager, which has instilled trust in a sizable portion of the United fanbase. The United board has traditionally been hesitant to relinquish authority, but they appear to have modified their strategy with this one, which is a great indication.

Rating Ralf Rangnick Appointment

Rangnick’s appointment as United manager is certainly his most important to date, with the 63-year-old having previously managed Stuttgart, Hannover, Schalke, Hoffenheim, and RB Leipzig throughout his nearly four-decade coaching career.

When asked about Premier League Productions, ex-Manchester United and Bayern Munich midfielder Hargreaves stated he thought the Old Trafford giants made a wise choice in choosing Rangnick.

He said: “Every job he touched he improved significantly.”

“The first time it was Ulm, a tiny little team and they came out of nowhere. You think about Hoffenheim and you think about the Red Bull projects, Leipzig and Salzburg.”

“He is an innovator and he’s a football man and that’s a beautiful thing.”

‘He’s got great experience, he plays the right way. When my Bayern Munich team played against them in the Bundesliga we didn’t have to do too much in terms of detail because we were better than the opposition most of the time, but you notice.”

“They beat one of Jurgen Klopp’s teams 4-1 and after Jurgen Klopp said he wanted his teams to play like that. How big a compliment do you want to make somebody?”
