Rajat Patidar Breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s Record: Becomes Second-Fastest Indian to 1000 IPL Runs

Rajat Patidar :Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Rajat Patidar has etched his name into IPL history with a blistering milestone that places him above Indian cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Despite RCB’s defeat to Punjab Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, it was Patidar’s gritty knock that stole the limelight — not just for his on-field resilience, but for smashing a monumental IPL record.

1000 Runs Milestone — Patidar Joins the Elite, Fast

During the clash against PBKS, Patidar crossed the 1000-run mark in just 30 innings, making him the second-fastest Indian to reach the milestone. The only Indian ahead of him? Gujarat Titans’ Sai Sudharsan, who achieved it in 25 innings. With this, Patidar has gone past the likes of:

• Sachin Tendulkar – 31 innings
• Ruturaj Gaikwad – 31 innings
• Tilak Varma – 33 innings

This achievement places Patidar in elite company — and makes it crystal clear that he’s not just another name on the RCB lineup; he’s becoming a legend in his own right.

Strike Rate + Consistency = Deadly Combo

What makes Patidar’s rise even more impressive is the way he’s racking up the runs. Among all Indian batters to reach 1000 IPL runs, Patidar is the only one to average over 35 while maintaining a strike rate above 150. That combination? Rare. Ruthless. And downright dangerous.

Let’s break down his numbers:

• Matches: 30
• Runs: 1008
• Average: 34.76
• Strike Rate: 158.49
• 100s/50s: 1/9
• Highest Score: 112*

He now shares this elite strike rate bracket with overseas stars like Chris Gayle, David Miller, and Heinrich Klaasen — proving he’s playing the game at international levels of aggression and consistency.

RCB Royalty in the Making

Patidar also becomes just the third Indian to score 1000+ IPL runs for RCB — a franchise that has seen big names come and go. Only Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal have previously achieved this feat for the Bengaluru-based side. In a franchise known for its bold style and big-hitting batters, Patidar is carving out a name of his own, fast.

Patidar isn’t just scoring fast; he’s scoring efficiently, and often in high-pressure games.

Leadership and Legacy

Since taking over as captain, Patidar has led RCB to four wins in IPL 2025 — showcasing not just batting prowess, but leadership steel. Despite a couple of tough home losses, RCB currently sits third on the points table, and Patidar’s form is a major reason why.

His journey — from a replacement player in 2022 to team captain and now one of the IPL’s fastest 1000-run scorers — is nothing short of a cricket fairytale.

Rajat Patidar’s rise isn’t just about stats — it’s about making a statement. As RCB pushes forward in IPL 2025, fans can take pride in the fact that their skipper is now rubbing shoulders with the best in the league — and outpacing legends. The baton has been passed — and Patidar is sprinting with it.
