Raj Nidimoru Calls Samantha Ruth Prabhu a ‘Hungry and Self-Made Actor’ — and Their Creative Sync Behind Maa Inti Bangaaram Is Truly Inspiring

When a filmmaker husband speaks about his actor wife in the most glowing, honest, and professionally grounded terms possible — you listen. Director-writer Raj Nidimoru has opened up about working with Samantha Ruth Prabhu on their third creative collaboration, Maa Inti Bangaaram, and what he shared offers a rare and beautiful window into what makes this partnership so uniquely powerful.

Raj & Samantha: A Creative Partnership Unlike Any Other

Maa Inti Bangaaram marks the third time Raj and Samantha have worked together — following The Family Man Season 2 and Citadel: Honey Bunny — and Raj is effusive about what makes his wife stand out as a performer.

“She’s a hungry and self-made actor. I haven’t seen her early works, but I know the adulation she got and the stardom she has enjoyed over many years,” he shared in an interaction with News18.

What’s remarkable is how Samantha approaches every scene with invisible but intense mental preparation — showing up fully ready, often delivering her best work on the very first take.

“She brings it forth in her first take itself. That’s why I usually use the first take of hers because there’s some kind of mental preparation to do something different,” Raj revealed.

Aware of the Clock, Fuelled by Craft

One of the most candid moments in Raj’s interview was his admission that both he and Samantha are aware of the industry’s shelf-life conversation — but rather than letting it be a source of anxiety, they’ve channelled it into relentless creative growth.

“We’re sadly aware of the shelf-life for actors across industries. We discuss quite a few of these things. But we also realise that beyond a point, it’s the acting skills that keep an actor alive for longer,” he noted.

This awareness pushes Samantha Ruth Prabhu — one of South India’s most bankable and versatile stars — to constantly reinvent herself, finding fresh ways to inhabit every character she plays.

‘We’re in Great Sync’

Despite being husband and wife working on the same set — a dynamic that can often get complicated — Raj says there’s barely any creative friction between them.

“When she did a take and wasn’t happy with it, we talked about it to see how else we could crack it. We’re in great sync,” he said warmly.

On the personal front, the couple is expecting their first child together in December 2026, adding an extra layer of joy to what is already a landmark year for both of them.
