Rafinha expected to make Real Sociedad loan move in January

Brazilian midfielder Rafinha is in talks to join Real Sociedad in the upcoming transfer window. The player will be signed on a six-month long loan deal until June 2022 if the two clubs find an agreement for the transfer.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, the two parties are confident about reaching an agreement soon.

Rafinha has been deemed surplus to requirements by manager Mauricio Pochettino and will be loaned out as a result. He joined them in June 2020 for a cut price fee worth €1.5 million, and signed a three-year deal with them.

Rafinha expected to return to La Liga

The midfielder came through the Barcelona academy, and featured for them between 2014 and 2018, before moving to Inter Milan on loan. Spending a year with the Nerazzurri, the player returned to Barcelona and was loaned out to Celta Vigo.

His tenure with Barcelona ultimately ended last year, when PSG signed him on a permanent transfer. The player has made 39 appearances across all competitions and has provided seven assists since joining the French giants.

This year, he has only made five appearances for PSG, and looks set to move on.

At 28, Rafinha is at the peak of his abilities and can still bring value to a line-up. He is a versatile attacking midfielder and can play centrally, as well as out wide.

Should Sociedad be able to complete the deal, they might be receiving a boost in their Champions League ambitions at the end of the season.
