Pune Comic Con 2026, part of the 13th edition of the national Comic Con India circuit, wrapped up on March 22, 2026 with over 25,000 attendees across the two-day weekend at Yash Lawns, Bibvewadi. Presented by Maruti Suzuki Arena and powered by Crunchyroll, it was one of the most attended editions in the city’s Comic Con history — validating Pune’s growing reputation as a serious pop-culture destination alongside Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

What Made This Edition Stand Out

The 2026 Pune edition wasn’t just a return engagement — it was the city’s strongest Comic Con showing yet. Pune’s demographic mix of college students, young professionals, and a deeply embedded anime and gaming subculture made it one of the most engaged crowds on the national circuit. The combination of Crunchyroll as title partner and the event’s focus on anime alongside Western comics reflected the shift in India’s pop-culture appetite, where anime fandoms now rival traditional comic book audiences in size and energy.

Indian comic creators and publishers were a significant draw, with appearances from Savio Mascarenhas of Amar Chitra Katha, cartoonist Faisal Mohammed (creator of Garbage Bin), graphic novel brand Indusverse, and Bullseye Press — giving attendees direct access to the creators shaping homegrown storytelling rather than only international IP.

The cosplay showcase remained the emotional centrepiece of the event, with participants bringing Marathi cultural references alongside anime, Marvel, DC, and gaming characters to the stage — a blend that Shefali Johnson, CEO of Comic Con India, had specifically hoped to see when the Pune edition was announced. Gaming zones, merchandise stalls, panel sessions, and live entertainment filled the rest of the programme across both days.

NODWIN Gaming’s Akshat Rathee, whose company co-produces Comic Con India, noted before the event that Pune’s creative identity — shaped by its college culture, book community, and organic fan spaces in areas like Baner and Viman Nagar — makes it one of the circuit’s most authentic venues. The 25,000+ footfall figure suggests that instinct was right.
