Sony and Microsoft both decided to provide gamers with Netflix-like memberships. On your PlayStation or Xbox console, you may play thousands of games for a monthly charge. In reality, you can choose games from a PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass catalog that is so large it will take you months or even years to fully explore.
Both PlayStation Plus and Game Pass have advantages and disadvantages. Sony launched its first subscription service in 2015 under the name Sony Now. The PS Plus Premium package combines the Essential and Extra tiers with additional features. You will be able to download and stream PS5 and PS4 titles, but not PS3 games. Over 340 new games are added to the already large library of more than 400 games, expanding the selection to include PS1, PS2, and PSP games. Titles from Ubisoft+ Classic are also included.
PS Plus and Game Pass – what are the Pros and Cons
You’ll need an internet connection to stream games utilizing the PS Plus Premium subscription. For a seamless stream, Sony advises at least 5 Mbps. If you don’t want to deal with downloading the game, only use the streaming service. The main drawback is that you may occasionally experience lag and abrupt fps dips.
Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S users can purchase Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass. But if you have Windows 10 or 11, you can also get Game Pass for PC. Game Pass titles were previously only available for download. However, Microsoft decided to make a streaming service available to their users, so you no longer need to load up your disk with games. However, you’ll need Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate if you want to play online games.
Xbox Game Pass is a rather simple subscription with no levels, unlike PS Plus. You will have immediate access to every Xbox game from every generation, and you can download and play as many as you like. That is, assuming your Xbox console has enough capacity.
You must log into Xbox Live at least once every 30 days to maintain your Xbox Game Pass subscription. Xbox Game Pass will lose some titles while adding others. Unfortunately, you can’t anticipate which titles will be available in the Xbox library. However, you receive a discount as a subscriber when you buy any game from the library or any game’s DLC.
The goal of PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass is to provide consumers with access to a library of material akin to Netflix.
