Process Lasso gets a new update bringing in support for Intel’s Alder Lake

Intel has just updated its process Lasso has just been updated to version 10.4, and this new update brings support for Intel’s new 12th Gen Alder Lake processors which currently rank as the Best CPUs for gaming.

After this update, Process Lasso has become one of the first third-party apps to enable user control of core prioritization with Alder Lake, which also helps to address some of the teething issues we’ve seen with Windows and the new hybrid CPU architecture.

Apart from supporting Alder Lake, Process Lasso is also bringing in support for CPU Sets and these sets can be seen as both a weaker version of CPU affinity as well as a more optimized version. They report to the OS which cores to use for a specific application, allowing the system to take advantage of using CPU affinity forcing thread scheduling policies without question.

Microsoft states that CPU sets were made for OS power management systems, hence, systems run well without CPU affinity causing problems. And many are stating that Process Lasso along with CPU sets, could become one of the best tools which we can currently get for Alder Lake CPUs.

The new update of Process Lasso makes it possible to control which cores are used to run a specific application. An instance of this is that, if you want to run a game on the P cores to circumvent issues with anti-cheat, Process Lasso can allow you to do that.

Process Lasso comes in both a free and a pro version which can be had for $24.95. There’s also a server version if you need to run it on machines equipped with Windows Server operating systems.
