TOTW selection explained

“In the goal this week it’s an easy one, Aaron Ramsdale. Aaron was fantastic against Liverpool yesterday and pulled off a couple of incredible saves right at the end to save the point. The save he made from that deflected Salah shot was unbelievable and could be a moment we look back on at the end of the season. A brilliant performance.”

“At right-back, I’m going with Trent Alexander-Arnold. I thought Trent was brilliant in the second half and was a big reason why Liverpool got back in the game. His quality on the ball is just fantastic, some of his switches of play were superb. He got an assist as well after that lovely nutmeg on Zinchenko, brilliant.”

“Next up, I’m picking Angelo Ogbonna. This lad has been a great servant for West Ham for years and he was outstanding at Craven Cottage at the weekend. David Moyes needs players he can rely on and Ogbonna is definitely that. He’s got bags of experience and a real love for the club, the sort of player you need in a relegation fight.”

“What a win that was for Bournemouth and what a couple of weeks it’s been for them. Chris Mepham was outstanding for them. I could have picked Jack Stephens next to him, but it’s the Welshman who gets in my side. Chris is a vital player for the club and seems a good lad too. You always know what you’re getting from him, and he was blocking everything at the weekend. This Bournemouth side has loads of character and you can see why with players like Mepham.”

“I’ve got to get a Wolves player in this defence, that was a huge win against Chelsea! I’m going with Toti Gomes, this lad did a great job at left-back. He’s probably more of a centre-half than a full-back but he did a good job filling in there at the weekend and brought loads of energy to the side. He looks like he’s got a great attitude and that can take you far in this game.”

Michael Olise is an easy pick, what a performance. Three assists in any game is an amazing achievement, let alone a Premier League game! I’ve always liked this lad; he’s got a lovely left foot and a lot of composure. He’s a very classy player and I think he could become a real talisman for this Palace side.”

“Next up, Philip Billing. It’s not the first time Philip has made my side, and it won’t be the last in this form! He’s been vital for Bournemouth this season and keeps popping up with some big goals. He’s always looking to get in the box, always trying to get a goal. He seems to be getting better and better, keep an eye on him.”

Matheus Nunes has to be in the side, I can’t leave him out after scoring that goal! What a strike from a very good midfielder. It’s been a difficult season for Wolves, but Nunes has been one of the positives, he’s a class act. A lot of the bigger clubs are showing some interest in him, it will be tough to keep him for another season.”

“I thought Jack Grealish was outstanding against Southampton. Jack has been playing brilliantly in the second half of the season, I’m delighted for the lad. We all knew how good he was on the ball but he’s adding a lot of goals and assists to his game, and he’s got to be one of the first names on Pep’s team sheet at the minute.”

“Up front, Gabriel Jesus has to be in the side. That was such a classy performance from him at Anfield, he took his goal superbly. It was his hold-up play that really caught my eye though. Some of his touches and flicks were absolutely superb, he was good as anyone on the park. He’s got so much to his game and he’s different class when he’s in this form.”

“Last up, the easiest pick of the week, Erling Haaland. He’s got to be the star man this week, he was typically unplayable against Southampton! I know he gets some brilliant service, but his movement, desire and quality turn that service into goals. The first goal was a typical striker’s goal and the second, the bicycle kick, was fantastic. He’s going to destroy all the records if he can stay fit and stay in this form!”
