Premier League Matchweek 2 Predictions by Harry Redknapp

BetVictor Brand Ambassador Harry Redknapp is here to give us his predictions ahead of this weekend’s Premier League action. He’s tipping Liverpool and Chelsea to pick up their first wins of the season, whilst Newcastle are predicted to pick up a well-earned point at the Etihad.

Premier League Matchweek 2 Predictions by Harry Redknapp

FixtureScore Prediction
Manchester City vs Newcastle Draw – 1-1
Liverpool vs Bournemouth Liverpool to win – 3-1
Tottenham vs Manchester United  Draw – 2-2
West Ham vs Chelsea Chelsea to win 2-0
Wolves vs Brighton Draw – 2-2
Fulham vs Brentford  Draw – 1-1

Man City 1-1 Newcastle

“Interesting one here. City were terrific against Burnley last week, but I didn’t think they were great during the week against Sevilla. Playing in that heat in Greece can’t have been easy and as a manager it’s always a nightmare to have such a short turnaround.

Newcastle had the best performance of the week and will travel to Manchester in great spirit. They’ll sit in, try and frustrate City and hit on the break with the likes of Isak.

I can see Newcastle getting something from this. City could be a little tired from playing on Wednesday and just might not be on it. 1-1.”

One to watch- “What a player Isak looks like. He’s so dangerous on the break and I can see him nicking one here.”

Liverpool 3-1 Bournemouth

“I’ve got to fancy Liverpool in this one. I thought they were superb in the first half at the Bridge last week, they created chance after chance. It’s still the same problem for Liverpool though, they concede too many goals.

I think Bournemouth will have a decent season; they’ve recruited well. The lad Scott from Bristol City in particular, he looked top quality whenever I saw him last season.

I think Liverpool will win this game, but I can’t see them keeping a clean sheet.”

One to watch – “He wasn’t happy at being taken off last week, how will Salah respond? I can see him scoring at least one.”

Tottenham 2-2 Man United

“I can’t wait for this, what a game this should be! Tottenham look like they’ll be a great side to watch this season, plenty of goals at both ends. There was a lot of positives in Postecoglou’s first game though, particularly the performance of Bissouma. I liked the look of the new lads at the back as well. With Harry Kane now gone, they’ll need more from Richarlison up top though.

I can’t believe United beat Wolves on Monday. The performance was really sloppy at times but as a manager, all that matters is the win. They’ll need to improve here but I think they will.

Spurs will try to take the game to United, but I think United will get joy on the break with the likes of Rashford and Mount. 2-2.”

One to watch– “Two assists on his debut was a great start for James Maddison. With Harry Kane now out the door, James looks like the leader in this side.”

West Ham 0-2 Chelsea

“West Ham got a point at Bournemouth last week, but I didn’t think they played that well. They’ve brought in a couple more signings now but it’s never easy to throw lads straight in the side. I worry the goals are going to come from in this side. I really like Bowen but if he’s not scoring, who is?

Chelsea, particularly in the second half last week, were excellent at times. They’ve obviously signed a lot of players, but Caicedo and Enzo will be a brilliant midfield pairing going forward. If Poch can pick an 11 and build a settled side, there’s loads of quality in this team.

I fancy Chelsea here.”

One to watch “I liked what I saw from Jackson last week. He was a real handful and looks a bargain to me. I can see him getting off the mark for his new club.”

Wolves 2-2 Brighton

“I wouldn’t have said this last week, but I think this will be a really good game. Wolves were fantastic at Old Trafford; I still don’t know how they didn’t get something from the game. They created so many chances, but they need to start putting them in the net.

Brighton cruised to the home win over Luton, but De Zerbi can’t have been happy to not keep a clean sheet. With Caicedo out the side, I worry about Brighton at the back.

I can’t split these two, 2-2.”

One to watch- “He’s been brought in for a lot of money, but Joao Pedro started in good fashion with a debut goal last week.”

Fulham 1-1 Brentford

I don’t see a lot of goals in this one. Fulham won at Goodison last week but a lot of that had to do with their keeper, he was terrific. With Mitrovic almost out the door, they need players to step up and replace his goals.

It was a typical Brentford performance against Spurs, they deserved a point. The pace of the two lads up top, Mbuemo and Wissa, caused Spurs all sorts of problems.

I think we’ll see a draw at the Cottage, I can’t see this being a thriller.”

One to watch- “I’ve always liked the lad Mbuemo and with Toney out the side, he’ll need to step up. He got one last week and I can see another here.”
