Premier League confirm zero COVID cases among 2,787 players and staff for the first time

Premier League confirms zero COVID cases fir the first time ever in their latest round of COVID-19 testing.

Among 2787 players and staff, no one tested positive this time. The previous lowest figure was one. It was recorded in consecutive weeks ending March 28 and April 4. The number become zero over the last week. 

The news helped the football authorities to start their planning to bring back the fans to the stadium again. Recently in the Carabao Cup final between Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspurs, NHS workers and local residents also part of the crowd at Wembley Stadium. Almost 8000 supporters watched the match. 4,000 fans were also attended Leicester’s FA Cup semi-final win over Southampton at the national stadium a week earlier. 

Meanwhile, the number of positive cases in the UK continues to fall. On Sunday, the Government revealed there had been a further 1,712 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK. It was a drop of nine percent compared to last week’s figure of 1,882. It is the lowest number since the 1,508 recorded on September 2, 2020, although deaths did rise by one to 11.

The lockdown rules are being eased on April 12 after the decreased COVID-19 cases. The UK government is hoping to win over the pandemic very soon.
