PlayStation VR2 Is Coming In 2024

Unlike leaks and rumours, this is solid and confirmed news that VR2 is coming in 2024. And the one confirming this is none other than Sony itself.

Recently, in a new blog post, the official PlayStation Blog talked about some of the upcoming games. And in this very same blog, Gillen McAllister, Sony Interactive Entertainment content communication manager, has confirmed the news. In his words,

“We are currently testing the ability for PlayStation VR2 players to access additional games on PC to offer even more game variety in addition to the PlayStation VR2 titles available through PlayStation 5”.

Further, the blog said that the PlayStation VR2 is expected to come to players later this year. This means that by the end of 2024, players will have official PC support for their PlayStation VR2.

However, we have to be sceptical here, as they have used the word ‘expected’, and the work is in the testing phase. So, we don’t know whether it can be done on time or not.

As we all know, the absence of official PC support for the PlayStation VR2 was not surprising. Its predecessor, PS VR, was also launched with official PC support. And both times, players were disappointed.

But the second time, they were less disappointed because, at some point, they expected this. It’s worth noting here that iVRy, the developer behind the first PC support for PS VR was also working on the PlayStation VR2. And now all the hard work is down the drain after this news.

It has made us realize that Sony has finally understood the importance of official PC support. And how it can make PlayStation VR2 more popular is already very popular.

As we all know, the VR2 offers players an immersive gaming experience. After getting headset compatibility, it is going to give players what they were waiting for.
