PlayStation 5 Pro Gets Native 8K Gaming: Pure Pool Pro Leads the Charge

Gaming just reached new visual heights with Pure Pool Pro becoming the latest title to unlock the PlayStation 5 Pro’s native 8K potential. This billiards sequel promises crystal-clear gameplay that showcases what Sony’s premium console can truly deliver.

PlayStation 5 Pro Will Run Pure Pool Pro At Native 8K Resolution

Pure Pool Pro by Ripstone Games joins an exclusive club of games targeting native 8K resolution at 60 FPS on PS5 Pro. Unlike other titles that use upscaling technology, this sequel delivers genuine 8K gaming without compromises.

Developer George Holland explained to Push Square that their success stems from the game’s fixed pool table environment, lightweight proprietary engine, and promising pre-alpha testing results—even before optimization began.

Performance Comparison

The achievement is remarkable considering most “8K” games on PS5 Pro, including Gran Turismo 7 and No Man’s Sky, rely on PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) to upscale 4K content to 8K resolution.

What Makes This Different

Pure Pool Pro’s native 8K gaming represents a technical milestone. While 8K displays remain uncommon among consumers, having true native 8K content demonstrates the PS5 Pro’s untapped potential for future gaming experiences.

The game’s controlled environment—a pool table with predictable lighting and physics—allows developers to maximize visual fidelity without sacrificing performance. This approach could inspire other developers to explore native 8K gaming in similar scenarios.
