Phantom Lawyer Episodes 5–6 Review: 4 Frustrating Moments That Kept Us Hooked Anyway

Phantom Lawyer is midway through its run, and episodes 5–6 brought more tension, darker twists, and yes — a few genuinely frustrating moments. Here’s a quick breakdown of what irked fans (and why we’re still watching).

Phantom Lawyer: Overview

1. Han Na Hyun’s Constant Hot-and-Cold Act

Esom’s Han Na Hyun is supposed to be an ally — but she spends most of these episodes making I Rang’s life harder. Her ambiguous motivations are intriguing on paper, but episode after episode of mixed signals is starting to test patience. The moment I Rang opens up about his ghost-seeing ability, she shuts down completely. Compelling? Yes. Maddening? Also yes.

2. Yang Do Kyung Lurking in the Shadows

Kim Kyung Nam’s Do Kyung has quietly become one of the scariest figures in the show — not because of any dramatic confrontation, but because of how silently he operates. He’s colluding with criminals I Rang already put away, and now he’s digging into I Rang’s secrets. He even tried to frame I Rang for murder. The threat feels very real, and very close.

3. Ghost Possessions Getting Dangerously Intense

I Rang has always been emotionally sensitive — it’s what makes him great at his job. But in these episodes, the supernatural possessions spiral into something darker and more physically dangerous. The ghost of scientist Jeon Sang Ho pushes I Rang to his limit, even causing him to confront a potential murderer. His mother finally reveals she knows about his gift — and begs him to stop. It’s heartbreaking and unsettling in equal measure.

4. A Resolution That Felt Too Rushed

After several clever twists, the reveal of Sang Ho’s killer — a jealous, cruel colleague — lands a bit flat. Justice is served, and Sang Ho finds peace, but the emotional payoff feels bittersweet and hurried. I Rang’s visible exhaustion at the end says it all: this job costs him more than he lets on.
