While the world waits for IU and Byeon Woo Seok to set screens on fire in Perfect Crown, there’s another couple quietly stealing hearts before the drama even airs — and their story might just be the most romantic one in the entire show.
Perfect Crown: The Couple Everyone Didn’t Know They Needed
MBC has officially revealed the characters of Lee Jae Won and Chae Seo An in the upcoming K-drama Perfect Crown — and unlike the central contract-marriage storyline, this pair is refreshingly, genuinely in love.
Lee Jae Won plays Sung Tae Joo, the eldest son of the powerful Castle Group, who after years of dating marries Han Da Young (Chae Seo An), a noblewoman from a prestigious family. No drama, no contract — just two people who chose each other and keep choosing each other every day.
That kind of love story feels rare in K-dramaland. We’re here for it. 💍
Character Breakdown at a Glance
| Character | Actor | Background |
|---|---|---|
| Sung Hee Joo | IU | Chaebol heiress, commoner status, main lead |
| Grand Prince Yi An | Byeon Woo Seok | Royalty with nothing, main lead |
| Sung Tae Joo | Lee Jae Won | Castle Group eldest son, Hee Joo’s half-brother |
| Han Da Young | Chae Seo An | Noble family daughter, Tae Joo’s devoted wife |
What Makes Their Love Story Special
Sung Tae Joo is a man caught between a domineering father and an ambitious younger sister — Sung Hee Joo — competing fiercely with him for the Castle Group heir position. He simply wants to be a husband his wife can be proud of.
Han Da Young, on her end, is brilliant and determined. Beautiful, intelligent, and status-rich, she has one quiet mission — to make her underestimated husband the most accomplished man in the room. Their devotion is mutual and unshakeable, which will make for an incredibly compelling contrast against the political chaos swirling around them.
Think of them as the calm eye of a very dramatic storm. 🌪️
Set in an alternate modern Korea functioning as a constitutional monarchy, Perfect Crown promises palace intrigue, chaebol power struggles, and love stories that cut right to the heart. For more on the biggest KDramas of 2026, check out TechnoSports’ K-drama hub.
