Critics can write what they want. Box office numbers will come and go. But when your two-year-old daughter sends you a voice message saying “Nanna, I love you so much” after your film releases, that’s the kind of review no star rating can compete with. And that’s exactly what happened to Ram Charan following the release of his latest film Peddi on June 4, 2026.

The Moment That Melted the Internet
In a post shared by Ram Charan’s wife Upasana Kamineni Konidela, a voice-over featured their daughter Klin Kaara Konidela expressing her love — the little star kid said “Nanna, this is for you. Nanna, I love you so much.”
For a father who described Peddi as the most difficult character he has ever played, hearing those words from his daughter after the film’s release is the kind of moment that makes every demanding shoot worth it. The clip went viral almost instantly, and honestly, it’s not hard to see why.
What Is Peddi About?
Set in a village in Andhra Pradesh during the 1990s, Peddi follows a cricketer-for-hire who plays for any team willing to pay him, living in a village so off the grid that it has no official identity and doesn’t even exist on record.
The story follows Peddi’s journey as he takes up the lifelong mission of a man named Appalasuri — to secure a railway halt for their neglected village — and how his sporting skills become crucial to that fight. His transformation from a paid player into a true sportsman under the guidance of his mentor Gournaidu forms the emotional core of the film. Yahoo!
It’s a story about belonging, identity, and the extraordinary things ordinary people do for the places they love — told through the lens of cricket, India’s most emotionally charged sport.
The Reception So Far
The film has received mixed reviews from critics, with most praise directed at Ram Charan’s performance and much of the criticism aimed at how Janhvi Kapoor’s character has been portrayed — with several viewers noting that certain visuals and dialogues involving her character come across as insensitive. Director Buchi Babu Sana has since issued an apology regarding that portrayal. Yahoo!
What remains uncontested, however, is that Ram Charan gave the role everything he had. Co-star Shiva Rajkumar was so moved by the performance that he publicly expressed hope Ram Charan would win a National Award for it.
What’s Next for Ram Charan?
Looking ahead, Ram Charan is set to star in the tentatively titled RC17, directed by Sukumar — the filmmaker behind the blockbuster Pushpa franchise. The combination alone has fans already buzzing with anticipation. Yahoo!
