Why Was Patriot Postponed?

Producer Anto Joseph confirmed the postponement via an official statement in Malayalam. He cited “unforeseen circumstances” as the reason, assuring fans the team is working to deliver the film in the “best possible quality.” He also confirmed that the new release date will be officially announced through the social media pages of Mammootty (Mammukka) and Mohanlal (Lalettan).

This comes after the film was reportedly blacklisted by the Kerala exhibitors’ union before release — a development that had already signalled trouble for the original date. The good news? The makers clearly intend to release it very soon, with just a “few days” of delay mentioned.

Why Patriot Is Such a Big Deal

This film marks a rare reunion of Mammootty and Mohanlal — the two pillars of Malayalam cinema — who haven’t shared the screen as co-leads in close to a decade. That alone makes it an event film. Add to that a star-studded supporting cast featuring Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara, and Kunchacko Boban, and you have one of the most loaded Malayalam releases in recent memory.

The spy thriller premise revolving around a controversial intelligence mission adds an extra layer of intrigue that has fans buzzing. Stay updated on all Malayalam film news and South Indian cinema at TechnoSports, and follow the latest on upcoming big releases only at TechnoSports.

What’s Next for Mammootty & Mohanlal?

Mammootty recently wrapped Padayaatra directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, and is actively working on D55 with Dhanush along with Mattancherry Mafia. Mohanlal, meanwhile, is deep into filming L366 directed by Tharun Moorthy, and has cameos lined up in several high-profile projects including Jailer 2 and Kathanar.
