Paris Paralympics 2024 Opening Ceremony: As the world turns its attention to the City of Light once again, Paris is set to host a groundbreaking event: the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paralympic Games. This historic occasion will not only mark the first time France hosts the Summer Paralympics, but it will also feature an unprecedented outdoor celebration, moving beyond the traditional stadium setting.

Let’s have a look into more details: Paris Paralympics 2024 Opening Ceremony

When and Where is the Paris Paralympics 2024 Opening Ceremony?

The Paris Paralympics 2024 opening ceremony will take place on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the iconic Place de la Concorde and Champs-Elysées. These historic landmarks, located in the heart of Paris, will provide a stunning backdrop for what promises to be a visually spectacular event.

Time of the Opening Ceremony

The ceremony will commence at 8:00 PM local time in Paris. For viewers in India, the event will begin at 11:30 PM IST, so be sure to set your reminders for this late-night spectacle.

What Makes This Opening Ceremony Unique?

This year’s ceremony is historic for several reasons. For the first time ever, the opening ceremony of the Paralympics will be held outside of a stadium, following in the footsteps of the Paris 2024 Olympics, which took place along the banks of the Seine River. The ceremony will be a grand showcase of the spirit and values of the Paralympic Games, crafted by Thomas Jolly, the Artistic Director of the event. Expect breathtaking performances, stunning visuals, and an atmosphere charged with emotion as the athletes parade down the Champs-Elysées.

Indian Contingent: Who to Watch?

India is sending a record breaking team of 84 athletes to the Paris Paralympics, aiming for an ambitious medal tally. However, only 52 athletes and 54 officials will participate in the opening ceremony. Notably, the shooting team, including Tokyo gold medalist Avani Lekhara, will skip the parade to focus on their competitions starting the next day. Javelin thrower Sumit Antil and shot putter Bhagyashree Jadhav will proudly serve as India’s flag bearers during the Parade of Nations.
