Haryana continues its legacy of producing top tier athletes, leading with 23 athletes heading to Paris. This northern state, known for its strong sporting culture, boasts prominent figures such as Neeraj Chopra, the reigning Olympic gold medalist in javelin throw, and boxer Amit Panghal. Haryana’s commitment to sports development has paid off, contributing significantly to India’s Olympic prospects.

With 29 athletes, athletics remains the largest contingent from India. Key athletes include Neeraj Chopra in javelin throw, Avinash Sable in men’s 3000m steeplechase, and Jyothi Yarraji in women’s 100m hurdles. India’s shooters have secured 21 spots, featuring top marksmen and women such as Prithviraj Tondaiman in men’s trap and Elavenil Valarivan in women’s 10m air rifle. The men’s hockey team, comprising 19 players, will look to build on their performance from the Tokyo Olympics. PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, will lead the badminton contingent, which also includes H.S. Prannoy and the men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty.
