The road to the Esports World Cup 2026 is entering its final stretch, and for hundreds of competitors around the world, this is it — the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) series is officially open for registration. Whether you’re a pro grinder, a rising talent, or a dark horse nobody saw coming, Paris is still within reach.
What Is the EWC 2026 Last Chance Qualifier?
The LCQ is the final qualification stage for Esports World Cup 2026, set to take place in Paris, France from July 6 to August 23, 2026 at Paris Expo Port de Versailles. The entire Road to EWC spans more than 230 tournaments worldwide, with over 350,000 competitors expected to participate across publisher ecosystems, regional leagues, and official circuits — making it the largest qualification program in esports history.
Eight titles will host LCQ events, awarding the final spots to competitors who didn’t qualify through earlier circuits.

The Jafonso Award — Why the LCQ Matters More Than Ever
The LCQ isn’t just a consolation bracket — it has produced some of the most iconic moments in EWC history. In 2024, EA FC pro João “JafonsogV” Vasconcellos clawed through the LCQ to ultimately claim the championship, inspiring the creation of the Jafonso Award — given to any team or player that wins an EWC championship after qualifying through the LCQ.
In 2025, Team Falcons’ Overwatch roster became the first recipient of the Jafonso Award, claiming the OWCS Midseason Championship and cementing Falcons’ second straight Club Championship through the very same path. Chess Grandmasters Nihal Sarin and Levon Aronian also qualified through the LCQ before reaching the playoffs — proof that the LCQ is far from a footnote in this competition.
