Palm Royale Season 2 Episode 9 Key Moments

Plot Point	What Happened
Evelyn’s Betrayal	Makes secret deal with Norma to sabotage Maxine

Yes, Maxine Shoots Jed—But It’s Self-Defense

The episode’s climactic moment arrives when Jed storms into Rollins Mansion after Eddie abandons Evelyn following Maxine’s revelation of her betrayal. Jed fires six shots at Evelyn, all missing their mark. After Evelyn disarms him with a candelabra, the enraged Jed tackles her onto the bed and begins strangling her.

Just as Evelyn’s life hangs by a thread, a gunshot echoes through the mansion. The camera pans to reveal Maxine holding a smoking gun as Jed collapses with a bullet wound in his back. The shocking scene confirms Maxine not only saves her former friend’s life but also avenges Mirabelle’s earlier tragedy.

This act of violence marks a dramatic departure from Maxine’s character arc, forcing her to cross moral boundaries she’d previously avoided throughout the series.

Evelyn’s Web of Deception Unravels

Episode 9 positions Evelyn as the season’s primary antagonist. Her secret alliance with Norma involves ensuring Robert and Mitzi’s wedding proceeds smoothly in exchange for financial assistance with her mounting tax problems. Evelyn deliberately misleads Maxine about the wedding location, hoping to secure sole ownership of the resort—her long-held dream.

However, her scheme crumbles when Maxine witnesses Robert destroying his portrait at Dellacorte Hall after discovering Norma’s manipulation and homophobia. Robert then crashes the church ceremony to announce the wedding won’t happen, leaving Evelyn without Norma’s promised help and facing Jed’s deadly wrath.

Linda’s Shocking Family Connection

The episode drops a bombshell revelation when Norma confesses to Linda at the church that she’s actually her biological daughter from an affair with Skeet. Linda was raised by Skeet and his wife to avoid scandal, explaining her complicated relationships throughout Palm Royale’s two seasons.

When Perry arrives to arrest Linda for the false presidential assassination attempt, Lotte intervenes by knocking him unconscious. The episode ends with three generations—Norma, Lotte, and Linda—escaping together into the night, setting up intriguing dynamics for the season finale.
